Organized in 1978, the
Appalachian Blacksmiths Association is an affiliate of ABANA. We represent blacksmiths,
bladesmiths, and farriers in West Virginia and its surrounding states of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, and Kentucky.
We publish a quarterly newsletter which keeps our membership up to date on events. The newsletter also features many metalworking tips.

(Randolph Co., WV) has re-opened as United Coals but is only loading coal by
rail.

Green Valley Coal Co.
(The old Lady H
Mine) -- Leivasy, WV. Cost is (was in 2002) $60 /ton.

The procedure is to have your vehicle weighed empty at the scales
that are on the main road. (State route 20) You then go down to the processing plant and have your vehicle loaded. You can
no longer load your own, since you are not allowed out of your vehicle. You then go back to the scales and get
weighed again and pay by check (no cash). The price was $60/ton.
The processing plant is located about midway between Nettie and Quinwood on route 20. Nettie is on State route 39 between
Richwood and Summersville. To get there from the south, Route 20 turns off of US60 at Charmco. The community where
the plant is located is Carl, the company office is a Leivasy. There are a lot of local truckers in the area, the coal company

I think it is the only company left selling coal, but they have several kinds
and good quality coal. The price for 100 l. differ from 290 to 320 SEK (krona)
